For eons, human beings had only two modes of transportation: right
feet and left feet.
By 2500 BC or so, we were riding horses, but
still managing to stay fit.
Then, about a century ago, we invented cars.
Today, we are taller, heavier and more out of shape than ever.
Our joints are the same as those that supported primitive man,
but our body mass has doubled, our hearts are working harder, and
our cardiovascular systems have to deliver blood to billions more
cells.
The answer is exercise. It strengthens muscles to protect your joints from injury. It helps your system deliver more oxygen to your cells so physical work is less dangerous because you recover faster. And it burns the fat stored under your skin, guarding against hard attacks and strokes.
The fact is, regular workouts help you stay healthy.
